Being a composer today I find myself composing not only for the guitar.

The orchestra and the many different ensembles that today’s film industry request, give me new colors to use for my creations.

Anthony Sidney

Was born in New York USA in 1952.He started to play and compose his first melodies at 5 years old.

He begins his public performances at 12 and at 16 is admitted to the “Conservatory of Florence”.

At 18 signs his first recording contract with EMI and at 20 with the RCA. He records 6 records with the group “Perigeo” and holds with this group an average of 160 concerts a year.

In 1974 he receives his degree in Stage Design from the “Academy of Fine Arts” of Florence.

At 25 continues his career as solo classical guitarist and composer, dedicating himself to performing his compositions and the classical guitar repertoire

In 1979 is invited by the Spanish painter Salvador Dalì to hold a concert at the painter’s home in Port Llygat Spain

Anthony Sidney’s music has been performed at the “Estate Fiesolana”, “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” and in the following Universities in the United States: Indiana University, Texas Tech University, Arizona State University, Loa Angeles Fullerton University, in Mexico at the “Università Autonoma del Messico” and also in Germany, England, Singapore and Bulgaria

His book on the guitar ”Scales and Studies for the Guitar” is used at Princeton University and at the Conservatory of Livorno Italy.

In 1979 he is invited as guest Artist on the Ray Charles Tour in Italy with the task of playing his own compositions for classical guitar as opening of Ray Charles’s concerts.  Altogether on the tour he plays for a public of 20 thousand people. Holding concerts at: Venice Teatro “La Fenice”, Bari Teatro “Petruzzelli”, Rome Teatro “Sistina”, Florence Teatro “Verdi”.

He has also held concerts in: Holland, Denmark, England, Germany, United States, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Poland.

He has recorded for the following recording companies: BMG RICORDI, CONTEMPO, EMI, RCA, SAILOR and UNDER ROOF.

He teaches History of Music at the “Academy of Fine Arts LABA” and the  “Accademia Italiana” of Florence. His teaching activities also include seminars on: Harmony, Improvisation and Performance. The Trinity College of London has included in the 1994-1997 syllabus a composition of his called “Rencontrer Les Yeux” for classical guitar as exam piece for the 7th year.

15 documentaries  for the Italian National Television series: “Capitali a Confronto”; “ Sotto un cielo bianco “ by Benedetto Ferrara presented at the 45th Festival dei Popoli.

Films  “Ad ovest di Paperino” for Vides Cinematografica; “Dolphins” by Greg Huglin.

Theater: “Ad occhi chiusi” directed by Lucio Chiavarelli sponsored by the Commune of Florence; “ Il Giardino di Arianna” written and directed by Maria Grazia Melai.

Compositions on the works of Painters such as : Carmen Manca, Angelo Antonio Falmi, Gianni Dorigo, Giosetta Fioroni, Massimo Innocenti.
